NDIS Information
What is the NDIS?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is the Australian Government's program that provides support to people with permanent and significant disability. The NDIS funds reasonable and necessary supports to help participants live an ordinary life — the same opportunities and choices available to everyone.
The NDIS is administered by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), and participants are supported to develop individual plans that reflect their goals and needs.
Am I Eligible?
To access the NDIS, you generally need to:
• Be under 65 years of age when you first apply
• Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or Protected Special Category Visa holder
• Have a permanent disability that significantly affects your ability to take part in everyday activities
Eligibility is assessed by the NDIA. Even if you're unsure whether you qualify, we encourage you to apply — many people are surprised to find they are eligible.
How Does an NDIS Plan Work?
Once approved, you'll receive an NDIS plan that includes:
• Your goals — what you want to achieve
• Your funded supports — the budget allocated across support categories
• Your plan management type — how your funds are managed (NDIA-managed, plan-managed, or self-managed)
Plans are reviewed regularly (usually every 12 months) to make sure they continue to meet your needs.
Support Categories
NDIS funding is divided into budget categories. The most common categories used by Greater Care Support participants include:
• Core Supports — daily activities, consumables, transport, and social participation
• Capacity Building — support coordination, improved living arrangements, improved daily living, and more
• Capital Supports — assistive technology and home/vehicle modifications
Working with Greater Care Support
Once you have an NDIS plan, engaging Greater Care Support is straightforward. Contact us, and we'll arrange a no-obligation meeting to understand your goals and explain how we can help. We'll develop a Service Agreement that clearly outlines the supports we'll provide, when, and at what cost.
We accept NDIA-managed, plan-managed, and self-managed participants.
